Self-Advocacy in Action
Tina has attended program at Ojai Enrichment Center for 27 years. Recently she brought up how shabby the OEC sign appeared and advocated for it to get an update! She is an active leader at program, in her community of Ojai, and with our Board of Directors. Tina wanted to write and share with you what her direct support staff mean to her, and how they empower her each day to achieve her goals. "What makes The Arc is the DSPs that we have. They are the heart and we wouldn’t be at the place we are today if we didn’t have the support that keeps our program going. I just wanted to say thank you to all of the wonderful DSPs that we have. I know this job is not easy but we all are so grateful to have you all. I know that we don’t say this all the time but thank you so much for all that you do. I don’t know what we would do without you.
I wanted to talk about two staff that work at OEC. Both of these staff I really admire and they work so hard at what they do. The first staff I want to give a big thank you to is Marietta Williamson she is the glue that keeps our program together. The other staff is Melanie Ledbetter, she is such a wonderful staff. She’s also very caring. I love having her as my staff I’m so very lucky and honored."
